- This knife is an actual copy of a typical Bowie knife of the 1830s.
- The story of the Bowie began on a sandbar of the Mississippi River above Natchez, Mississippi on September 19, 1827.
- A brawl that eventually involved Col. James “Jim” Bowie, who, having been shot and stabbed, successfully defended himself killing Major Norris Wright and wounding Alfred Blanchard with what onlookers described as a “large butcher knife.”
- This and other tales of Bowie’s abilities with a knife led to the widespread popularity of what became known as the “Bowie” knife.
- Bowie joined the Texas militia at the beginning of the Texas Revolution.
- Legend has it that Bowie died in his bed, knife at his side, after emptying his pistols into numerous Mexican soldiers.
- This elegant recreation offers a hardwood handle accented by the brass-plated blade catcher and guard which are reminiscent of the styling of original bowies.
